Anxiety and Depression Symptoms

Everyone feels anxious from time to time, such as when you're taking a test or performing in the presence of a crowd. But if these feelings persist for several months or interfere with your daily routine you could be suffering from an anxiety disorder.

Depression and anxiety are two common disorders that may be treated with medication, psychotherapy or both.

Here are a few of ways to lower your risk:

It isn't always easy to determine which condition is causing the symptoms of a person. Depression is characterized by intense feelings of helplessness or sadness as well as irritability, changes in energy, sleeping patterns and sleeping patterns. It can also cause an inability to enjoy or interest in previously enjoyable activities. In some cases the symptoms could result in thoughts of harming yourself or even suicide attempts. They include phobias that are specific to you (fear of certain things like animals or insects) and panic disorder (characterized by repeated episodes that peak in anxiety and fear in a matter of minutes and panic attacks) and obsessive compulsive disorder (which involves unwanted thoughts and feelings that prompt someone to repeat certain behaviors over and over as a means of coping with these) and post-traumatic stress disorder which describes the variety of emotions that follow a trauma incident, which can include upsetting memories, nightmares, and difficulty sleeping.

The exact causes of anxiety disorders aren't fully understood, but there is evidence to suggest that life experiences can trigger them in those who are predisposed. The environment, genetics, and lifestyles are also factors. Sometimes feeling sad or depressed is part of everyone's life, but when it gets worse and affects your daily life, seek help from a health care professional.

Anxiety symptoms may include a fast heartbeat, a feeling of fear or skepticism, trouble concentration and focusing and muscle tension and headaches, fatigue. People suffering from anxiety typically have difficulty sleeping and can be easily angry and irritable. Children may be withdrawn and not communicate with other people.

Psychological treatments that focus on transforming unhelpful patterns of thinking and coping strategies, such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) or psychodynamic talk therapy, may be utilized in conjunction with antidepressant medications. Lifestyle changes that help to manage anxiety and clinical depression symptoms include getting enough sleep, improving eating habits as well as reducing alcohol or substance usage, and exercising.
