Albums
Toto's discography includes 13 studio albums and four live albums. There are also compilations. Toto has released original music as well as collaborated with other artists on soundtracks and films. The group has won multiple Grammy Awards.
Before Toto was formed the members of the group did sessions for other musicians. David Paich, the son of drummer Marty Paich, and Jeff Porcaro (the brother of guitarist Joe Porcaro and drummer Jeff Porcaro) all performed on Boz Scaggsalbum from 1975 Silk Degrees. Toto was formed in the year 1976 following the collaboration.
The band's third album, Turn Back, marked an abrupt departure from the progressive sound of their earlier albums, and was criticised for the absence of hit singles. In 1985, the group's lead singer Fergie Fredericksen quit, and the band held auditions to choose a new frontman. Guitarist Steve Lukather was chosen, and the group recorded their album Fahrenheit in 1986.
In 1998, Toto celebrated its 20th anniversary by re-discovering old demos and tapes to release a special album called Toto XX. The album was a hit by fans, and the band embarked on a tour that featured former members Bobby Kimball, Steve Porcaro and Joseph Williams.
During the tour for the album 40 Trips Around the Sun, drummer Leland Sklar left the group and was replaced by Shem von Schroeck. In 2017, Toto released a double-CD live set called Falling in Between, which included recordings from the tour and an interview with the group.
