Albums
The discography of American rock group Toto includes 13 studio albums, four live albums, and numerous compilations. Toto has released original music and collaborated with other artists on soundtracks and films. The band has won multiple Grammy Awards for their work.
Before the formation of Toto, band members did sessions for other musicians. Drummer Jeff Porcaro, bassist David Hungate and keyboardist David Paich (the son of session drummer Marty Paich and brother of guitarist Joe Porcaro) played on Boz Scaggs 1975 album Silk Degrees. Toto was formed in 1976 in the wake of the collaboration.
The band's third album, Turn Back, marked an abrupt departure from the progressive sound of their previous albums, and was criticised for its absence of hit singles. In 1985 the singer Fergie Frederiksen quit the group and the band held auditions for the new frontman. Guitarist Steve Lukather was chosen, and the group recorded their album Fahrenheit in 1986.
