Discography
With a name as evocative as Asia you'd think that the group would be prog queens and kings however, it's actually a pretty straight forward rock band. The band was initially a four-piece and released two albums in 1979, the self-titled debut album and 1980's Armed to the Teeth. The group has a diverse musical background but their biggest success came in 1982 with Toto IV.
The album was a major blockbuster, but not without its share of problems. Record companies put the band on the place with the directive "give us a hit record or we'll take you off the market" and the pressure was on them to give it. Toto was able achieve this through the aid of the hit song "Africa."
Toto's musical mastery owes a lot to their prior experience since the members had been session musicians for artists like Boz Scaggs, Steely Dan, and Seals and Crofts prior the group. Their distinctive sound has become the standard of the '80s, and has influenced many contemporary artists.
The album starts out hard with tracks like Running Out of Time or Unknown Soldier that show the band's ability to write great AOR tunes that slowly get into your head. The album also has some more mellow, jazzy tracks,
먹튀검증 커뮤니티 like The Little Things and Chinatown. The album closes with Great Expectations. This song blends folk and distortion AOR, which should seem like a complete blunder, but works very well.
After Toto IV The band's fortunes changed towards the negative. David Hungate left to concentrate on his solo career and the band went through numerous drummers. In 1984, Bobby Kimball left the band after drug charges. The band continued to play with Michael Porcaro, Steve Lukather and Michael Porcaro.
Despite the turbulence, Toto forged ahead and released Isolation however, which was not as successful as IV. However, the group had a successful chart-topping album in 1992, Kingdom of Desire. The album marked the end of the original Toto lineup and was also the first album to feature a new singer,

Line-up
Turn Back, the band's third studio album it was an ode to the classic sextet structure, and an even more consistent and powerful effort with a harder edge. The more edgy sound of the album was a reflection of the maturation of the group and featured drummer Bobby Kimball's increased proficiency on the drums, as well as an improved, mature vocal delivery by singer Joseph Williams. Keyboardist David Paich's work also was more precise, sharper, and less derivative than on previous recordings.
After touring to promote the album, the group recorded a live performance in Amsterdam which was released as a set of two CDs called Falling In Between Live on Eagle Records. A new studio album followed shortly after, and the group embarked on a long-distance tour to promote it. During this period keyboardist Greg Phillinganes replaced Paich and bassist David Hungate quit the group to spend time with his family.
In 1998, Paich & Lukather began searching through old tapes & demos to discover songs that had never been recorded prior to. It was completed in 2001 and released as a double album called Then and Now. It was the first album by the band that did not include one single track with the word "A" in its title.
