Before the formation of Toto the group, its members performed session work for Steely Dan, Seals and Crofts,[4Seals and Crofts,[4] Boz Scaggs and Sonny and Cher. Five guitarist Steve Lukather is the band's singer.
About Toto
The group Toto was formed in the year 1976 by guitarists Jeff Porcaro and David Paich (who were also highly acclaimed studio musicians who worked with Boz Scaggs at the time) and bassist/singer Bobby Kimball. Taking their name from the Latin word meaning "all inclusive," the group was intent on exploring every musical style.
The third album by Toto, Turn Back, was a failure in 1981. However they came back with their fourth release, Isolation, which contained two hit songs, including the title song and Roseanna. The album and

After a gap of couple of years, Toto return with the album Fahrenheit in 1986. The album is different from the ballads that were featured on previous albums, and features some heavy rock. This was their first platinum album in North America.

Toto's touring lineup is completed by drummer Lenny Castro, bassist Shannon Forrest and keyboardist Shem von Schroeck.

After Isolation, Toto took a break from the spotlight and

After that, the group disbanded once again. Toto came back together for an event benefiting the ALS Foundation in 2010. to raise funds for the ALS Foundation. It was the first time in more than 31 year that all Toto's original members performed together. The band was hit with several setbacks throughout their final times, despite their fame. In 2002, drummer Greg Phillinganes left the group, and keyboardist David Paich took a leave of absence due to health reasons. Shem von Schröeck took over however the band was not the same without Paich or Phillinganes. In 2008, a string of lineup changes as well as a series of disappointing releases prompted Toto to call it quits for a period of time. But, the group recommenced touring in 2012 following the release of their album 40 Trips Around the Sun.
The album was a return form for the band, and the tour accompanied it with sold-out shows across North America and Europe. Toto's reunion was made more exciting by the inclusion of guitarist Steve Lukather and bassist Shem von Schroeck, who had both returned to the group.
